Who am I?
Who am I and why did I become an IBCLC?
My name is Annet Mulder,
married and mother of two children (both breastfed of course!) Originally I am general nurse by profession. During my first pregnancy in 2000 I came in contact with the Vereniging Borstvoeding Natuurlijk (VBN), the Dutch breastfeeding association. The VBN counsellors helped me during my time of breastfeeding. In 2000 I started the training to become a counsellor. I enjoyed being a counsellor for eight years in the city of Almelo where I organized meetings for pregnant and breastfeeding women.
I was a member of the VBN training committee and organized training days for the 150 volunteers. After a few years I found I was searching for more and more information about breastfeeding problems and wanted to make a career out of my hobby.
In 2008 I became an IBCLC and I work with great pleasure at the local BFHI hospital as an IBCLC on the maternity ward and the neonatology ward.
